Paypal is Your Pal

Payment methods have certainly evolved throughout history. The fact that something can be paid for with the swipe of a card is truly amazing. Today, however, there is an online market to attract. Payment methods like Paypal have flourished on the web. So much so, that online retailers are now almost required to have some kind of online payment method on their website. Even a pizza can now be purchased through online payment and delivered to your home, just moments after!

Safety is one of the main issues of these online payment methods. Many consumers fear their information will be stolen, if posted on a website without a secure method of payment (such as Paypal). This can be a huge issue for online retail companies. A consumer may be too frightened to purchase a product, which can lead to a loss of potential revenue.

With the growth of the online market, I feel it is essential to give all consumers a sense of safety by adding a secure online payment, such as Paypal. eBay, the owner of this secure online method, seems to be thriving as one of the internet’s most visited websites. Perhaps Paypal is one of the reasons why eBay is so successful. Only time will tell just how much more success Paypal will achieve.

Is it worth paying a fee to give consumers the option of paying through Paypal? Do you feel safer inputting your information on websites that use Paypal? Do you feel the future is bright for online payment methods like Paypal?

What is your perspective?

  1. Paypal is great because it poses as the middle man for transactions with third parties. It allows you to buy and sell off of sites like Ebay without you credit card information being compromised. WIth all the identity theft out there, however, I’m not sure if I feel too safe performing these transactions. I haven’t had a problem up to now, but other people have. Unfortunately, it’s the simplest method right now for doing transactions with domestic and international customers.

  2. I definitely believe PayPal is the way to go with online payments. I remember making my first purchase through eBay when it was still relatively new and how easy and painless it was to do so. Years later, I still use PayPal as my internet method of making purchases and see it pointless to use any other way. I also believe it’s the safest way to make any payments today.

  3. Paypal is getting pretty big now and with such great usage comes the need to focus on extra privacy. I don’t believe the problem is the companies purposely compromising your information. The issue would be hackers that want to get their hands on peoples’ credit card numbers. Security when it comes to any company handling your money is crucial. Online payments have to be monitored very carefully.

  4. From personal experience, I can say that I have yet to have a negative experience using Paypal. The safety, and having reputable websites such as Ebay using their services allows users to feel comfortable using them too. Will Paypal get bigger? Yes, definitely they are on the right track to become even more successful because of their high customer satisfaction.

  5. I agree with you that more online vendors should begin to provide more secure payment methods on their websites, such as PayPal. I personally do not feel directly safer using PayPal when making an online purchase, but as internet privacy lessens I believe that I will start to feel that way very soon.

  6. Your comment is very interesting to me. I have been heard about Paypal but not too much. Anyway, eBay is a successful website and many people buy from them. I think buying from them is secure. It is my own experience. In my opinion, the future is brilliant for online payment methods like Paypal. It is innovative, fast, secure, and easy way to get a product and pay for it.
